Recipe map
Where the dishes come from.
The Philippines is 7,641 islands and more than 175 languages, and its food is just as varied. Every region cooks its own way, and often so does every province and town: Vigan's longganisa is garlicky and sour with Ilocos cane vinegar, Lucban's is seasoned with oregano, and Maranao cooks in Mindanao build their dishes on palapa, a pounded relish of native spring onion, ginger and chili.
This map places each of our recipes where it comes from, from sisig in Pampanga to the Ilonggo kitchens of Iloilo City, the first Philippine city UNESCO named a Creative City of Gastronomy. Tap a province to see its dishes.
